Steel Sheet Pile Locking and waterproof performance
Design: Interlocking Steel Sheet Pile, permeability ≤1×10⁻⁷ cm/s
Americas: Meets ASTM D5887 Standard for a Liner to Reduce Seepage Under Drums
Southeast Asia: Groundwater-seepage proof for tropical rainy seasons
Steel Sheet Pile Production process
It all starts with the finest steel billets, which are heated to high temperature in a reheating furnace up to a plastic state. The hot billets are then rolled in a continuous rolling mill and are shaped step by step into the final sheet pile profile. This form-fit interlocking system is made rigid to be ensured against vibration looseness even when the piles are used in construction.
After hot rolling, the profiles are subjected to controlled cooling to preserve their shape and mechanical properties. The material is then straightened to remove any distortion and to achieve dimensional accuracy. If necessary, other surface treatments can be made, such as anti-corrosive treatment or hot-dip galvanization for protection against the weather.
Then, the finished steel sheet piles are cut to standard or special sizes, and go through quality control checking on dimension and surface defect. Thus, Every Single product is guaranteed to meet the construction standards of the whole world and can be trusted in foundation and marine engineering application.
Steel Sheet Pile Surface
Americas:HDG as ASTM A123 (min zinc coat ≥ 85 µm); 3PE coating is optional; all finishes RoHS compliant.
Southeast Asia:A thick hot-dip galvanizing layer (≥100μm) with dual epoxy coal tar coating provides more than 5000 hours of salt spray protection, which is suitable for use in tropical marine environment.
APPLICATION
1.Excavation Shoring: In city utilities, subway station digging, or cellar building, u-shaped steel sheet piling is driven into the earth to create temporary or permanent soil retaining walls or working walls.
2.Cofferdams: For bridge-pier construction or under water work, u-shaped steel sheet piles are interlocked horizontally and vertically to form a closed ring (cofferdam).
3.Marine & Port Construction: U-shaped steel sheet piles are also used as revetments for the dock walls.
4.Flood Control & Seepage Barriers: In dam strengthening and river control, U-shaped steel sheet piles are buried in water as impervious curtains.
Advantages of U-shaped piles
1. Excellent Structural Strength-to-Weight Ratio
The carefully designed U-shaped geometry maximizes the distance between the steel and the neutral axis, significantly increasing the section modulus.
2. Superior Interlocking and Waterproofing Performance
U-piles utilize the Larssen interlocking system, renowned for its reliability.
3. Easy Installation and Operation
U-piles are easier to operate compared to other complex profiles, such as Z-piles or composite walls.
4. High Reusability and Versatility
U-piles can be used as temporary supports or permanent structures. Their length can be easily extended by welding or shortened by cutting to meet specific site requirements.
PACKAGING AND SHIPPING
Steel Sheet Pile is typically packaged in strong steel bundles to ensure stability and safety during transportation and handling. Each bundle is tightly strapped with steel bands and, when required, reinforced with wooden supports or steel frames to prevent deformation during loading and long-distance shipping.
For surface protection, sheet piles can be covered with waterproof materials or plastic wrapping to reduce exposure to moisture, dust, and corrosion during transit. Identification labels are attached to each bundle, indicating size, length, steel grade, and order details for easy tracking and installation on-site.
Shipping is usually arranged by sea freight in containers (20GP, 40GP, or 40HQ) or by bulk vessel for large-scale projects. For inland or cross-border delivery, truck and railway transportation are also available. With proper packaging and professional loading methods, the steel sheet piles are ensured to arrive safely, maintaining structural integrity and ready for immediate construction use.
