Steel Sheet Pile Locking and waterproof performance
Design: Interlocking Steel Sheet Pile, permeability ≤1×10⁻⁷ cm/s
Americas: Meets ASTM D5887 Standard for a Liner to Reduce Seepage Under Drums
Southeast Asia: Groundwater-seepage proof for tropical rainy seasons
Steel Sheet Pile Production process
1. Billet Heating
Process: The billet is fed into a heating furnace and heated to 1200°C - 1300°C. This high temperature gives the steel good plasticity, facilitating subsequent large deformation rolling.
2. Roughing & Pre-forming
Process: The heated billet passes through a roughing mill. Through multiple rolling passes, the billet gradually thins and lengthens, and is initially pressed into a rough "U" shape.
3. Universal Rolling
Process: This is the most crucial step. The billet enters a universal rolling mill. The rolling mill precisely controls the flange thickness, web thickness, and height of the U-shaped sheet piles through the simultaneous action of horizontal and vertical rolls.
4. Straightening & Cutting
Cutting to Length: According to customer order requirements (e.g., 6m, 9m, 12m, 15m), the sheet piles are cut to length using a flying saw or flame cutter.
5. Cooling & Inspection
Process: The sheet piles are naturally cooled on a cooling bed.
6. Locking Greasing & Packing
Protection: To prevent rusting of the locks during transportation and storage, and to facilitate piling operations, grease is typically applied to the locks.
Steel Sheet Pile Surface
Americas:HDG as ASTM A123 (min zinc coat ≥ 85 µm); 3PE coating is optional; all finishes RoHS compliant.
Southeast Asia:A thick hot-dip galvanizing layer (≥100μm) with dual epoxy coal tar coating provides more than 5000 hours of salt spray protection, which is suitable for use in tropical marine environment.
APPLICATION
1.Excavation Shoring: In city utilities, subway station digging, or cellar building, u-shaped steel sheet piling is driven into the earth to create temporary or permanent soil retaining walls or working walls.
2.Cofferdams: For bridge-pier construction or under water work, u-shaped steel sheet piles are interlocked horizontally and vertically to form a closed ring (cofferdam).
3.Marine & Port Construction: U-shaped steel sheet piles are also used as revetments for the dock walls.
4.Flood Control & Seepage Barriers: In dam strengthening and river control, U-shaped steel sheet piles are buried in water as impervious curtains.
Advantages of U-shaped piles
1. Excellent Structural Strength-to-Weight Ratio
The carefully designed U-shaped geometry maximizes the distance between the steel and the neutral axis, significantly increasing the section modulus.
2. Superior Interlocking and Waterproofing Performance
U-piles utilize the Larssen interlocking system, renowned for its reliability.
3. Easy Installation and Operation
U-piles are easier to operate compared to other complex profiles, such as Z-piles or composite walls.
4. High Reusability and Versatility
U-piles can be used as temporary supports or permanent structures. Their length can be easily extended by welding or shortened by cutting to meet specific site requirements.
PACKAGING AND SHIPPING
Packaging: Paired and buckled together, secured with steel straps, and the locking loops are coated with oil for rust prevention.
Transportation: Supports container, open-top container, or bulk carrier shipping.
Labeling: Each bundle comes with an original Material Certificate (MTC) and specification label.
FAQ
Q1: What type of interlock do you use? Is it prone to unlocking?
A: We use standard Larssen interlocks. The hot-rolling process ensures extremely high dimensional accuracy and a tight fit, effectively preventing unlocking.
Q2: Does the product come with a Material Certificate (MTC)?
A: Every batch of products comes with an original Material Certificate (MTC), covering chemical composition and mechanical performance testing.
Q3: I have a special length requirement (e.g., 13.5 meters), can you customize it?
A: Yes. We offer customized length services. In addition to the standard 6m, 9m, and 12m, we can also precisely cut to size according to your design, reducing on-site welding or waste.
Q4: If I'm worried about leaks, can you pre-apply interlock sealant?
A: No problem. We can pre-apply professional interlocking sealant (such as Wadit) before shipment according to your requirements, or provide interlocking grease treatment to ensure optimal seepage prevention in water-bearing operations or cofferdam projects.
Q5: Do you have agents or branches in local areas (such as Central Asia or the Americas)?
A: China Royal Steel has branches in the United States and Guatemala, and stable partners in Ecuador and Mexico. We can provide you with diversified supply solutions, either directly from China or coordinated through local branches.
