Steel Sheet Pile Locking and waterproof performance
Design: Interlocking Steel Sheet Pile, permeability ≤1×10⁻⁷ cm/s
Americas: Complies with ASTM D5887 Standard for a Liner To Minimize Seepage Beneath Drums.
Southeast Asia: Groundwater-seepage proof for tropical rainy seasons
Steel Sheet Pile Production process
1. Raw Material Heating
-
The Process: Steel semi-finished products, usually heavy blooms or rectangular slabs, are loaded into a walking-beam reheating furnace.
-
The Goal: The steel is uniformly heated to an optimal rolling temperature (typically between 1100°C and 1250°C) to maximize its malleability and ductility for shaping.
2. Rough Rolling & Breakdown
-
The Process: The incandescent steel slab passes through a heavy breakdown mill or roughing stand (often a reversible rolling mill) multiple times.
-
The Goal: The initial thick slab is progressively reduced in cross-section and elongated into a preliminary profile, often referred to as a "dog-bone" or beam-blank shape.
3. Universal Finishing Rolling
-
The Process: The pre-shaped steel passes through a sophisticated universal rolling mill train equipped with both horizontal and vertical rollers that apply pressure simultaneously.
-
The Goal: This is the critical stage where the final profile geometry—such as U-shape, Z-shape, or Flat/Straight web type—is formed with precise dimensional accuracy, including the highly critical, tight-tolerance interlocks on both edges.
4. Cooling and Straightening
-
The Process: The continuous hot-rolled steel profile is sectioned by hot saws and transferred to a cooling bed. Once cooled to ambient temperature, the sections are processed through a multi-roller straightening machine.
-
The Goal: Cooling stabilizes the micro-metallurgical structure, while the cold-straightening process eliminates any thermal warping, twisting, or bending to ensure perfectly straight profiles.
5. Cutting, Inspection & Finishing
-
The Process: The straightened sheet piles are cold-sawed to exact customer-specified lengths. Quality control teams perform rigorous ultrasonic and dimensional testing, particularly on the interlock tolerances and surface quality.
-
The Goal: To ensure seamless clutching performance during on-site driving. Optional post-processing—such as drilling lifting holes, applying anti-corrosion coatings, or injecting interlock sealants—is completed here prior to bundling and shipping.
Steel Sheet Pile Surface
Americas:HDG coating complies with ASTM A123 standard, with a minimum zinc coating thickness of ≥85 µm. 3PE coating is available as an optional protective system. All surface finishes are RoHS compliant, ensuring environmental safety and international export standards.
Southeast Asia: Hot-dip galvanizing (≥100 μm) combined with dual-layer epoxy coal tar coating provides over 5,000 hours salt spray resistance, suitable for tropical marine environments.
APPLICATION
1.Earth Retention & Cofferdams
The Function: Creating temporary or permanent deep excavation walls.
The Application: Widely used to build watertight cofferdams in rivers and harbors, allowing engineers to pump out water and safely construct bridge piers, dams, and underwater foundations.
2. Marine & Port Infrastructure
The Function: Constructing robust waterfront barriers.
The Application: Installed as permanent quay walls, bulkheads, and retaining barriers in ports, harbors, and marinas to withstand heavy lateral earth pressure and wave impact while preventing coastal erosion.
3. Foundation and Basement Walls
The Function: Serving as structural load-bearing and retaining elements for buildings.
The Application: Driven into the ground for high-rise building foundations, underground parking garages, and deep basements to stabilize the surrounding soil and block groundwater seepage during and after construction.
4. Infrastructure & Transport Protection
The Function: Shoring up earth structures along transit lines.
The Application: Used for building bridge abutments, tunnel approaches, and railway/highway retaining walls to prevent landslides, stabilize slopes, and support steep grade changes.
5. Environmental & Flood Control
The Function: Controlling water flow and containing hazardous materials.
The Application: Deployed in flood walls, levee reinforcement, and riverbank protection to prevent flooding. They are also driven deep around landfills and contaminated sites as cutoff walls to block toxic groundwater migration.
